This digital space was created on 28 April to report on the legal controversy over the "Elian True Wazzup" Flash video created by Chris Lathrop and Sean Bonner. At this site you can view and download the "Elian True True Wazzup" parody which combines [defaced] Associated Press photos of the Elian raid/saga and audio from the Budwiser "Wazzup True" Ad.You can also read about how the Associated Press [namely one David Tomlin] bullied Chris and Sean to remove their video from their web sites stating via eMail to the accused they were in violation/infringement of United States Copyright Law. Associated Press backed off from the dynamic duo shortly after Tomlin's threat due to high volumes of public dissent over Tomlin's threats to Sean, Chris and Newgrounds.com.
As of this past week, [22 May] Associated Press/David Tomlin have agreed not to "go after" Sean and Chris legally speaking if they repost their movie. So they have republished their "Elian True True" film on their web sites, as well as two MORE new videos, [Bobby Knight and Rudy Guiliani]. This issue should be of interest to all musicians in terms of Fair Use
and copyright law. Sampling and covers of music is a hot issue ranging from
2 Live Crew to Negativland and other artists who have or are being sued
for intellectual property copyright infringement in the music business.
I'd like to personally express my gratitude to Stephen M. Arner, the attorney who helped out with this case on behalf of Sean Bonner and Chris Lathrop [and their First Amendment rights], not only for saving their asses from the Associated Press threats of sharing mortal hell in court, but mine as well.

These pages will remain on this server as a testament to our First Amendment rights in the United States of America and the World Wide Web.
