Last Sigh: Where are you located? How long have you been involved with music? Are you self taught or do you have any formal schooling in music?

LV21: I´m from Leipzig in Germany. I made music since 1996 and I tought my self. But I can't play any instruments, I work only with my ears and my sick brain.

Last Sigh: You have a project entitled: Ohrenschmerz. What is the translation of this name to English? How long have you been creating music/sounds as Ohrenschmerz? Who or what is LV21?

LV21: Yes! I think in english OHRENSCHMERZ means EARPAIN or EARSICK. I think this name is quite Striking for my sound. OHRENSCHMERZ exists since 1998. LV21 is my pseudonym.

Last Sigh: Could you describe to us the sounds of Ohrenschmerz/LV21? What  gear are you using to create these sounds? Are you mainly into playing live and recording those events or do you also work in the studio to get your ideas down?

LV21: I think the sound of OHRENSCHMERZ is hard, rhythmical and screw tight. I Work with following gear:
Quasimidi Sirius, Korg AX1G, mixer, minisdisc´s, and many little techniques. Usually I work in the studio and get my ideas down.

Last Sigh: You sent us a CD of music recorded live at The Palette in September, 1999. Is this a club and where is it located? Do you perform there often? The CD cover says the recordings were, Finalized "by Rudy R. at His Master's Studio in 99." How did things come about to have Rudy Ratzinger know you or work with your music? Did he master any of this CD?

LV21: "Palette" is a Club in Halle/Saale (Germany). No, I performed in this club only for my first time. A friend of mine (graphic artist and webmaster of www.morpharts.de) has known Rudy for a long time and he managed to have Rudy finalize the „KONZEPTION:Wahnvorstellung"-CD. Rudy finalized the complete CD.

Last Sigh: On this same release, there is a quote: "Ihr Lugner, Ihr verdammten Lugner, ich verachte Euch!" What does this translate to and how is it relevant to your music? What is Wahnvorstellung? The titles to your tracks on this CD in English are? [1-6]?

LV21: "Lügner...."= You liars, you damned liars, I despise you!!" with these words I mean the people who tell bad things about me and my works. "Wahnvorstellung" means delusion or insanity.

The tracks:

  1. Systematischer zusammenbruch = systematic collapse
  2. KONZEPTION:Wahnvorstellung = conception:delusion
  3. Karbidverbrennung = carbide-combustion
  4. Deutscher hass = german hate
  5. -?-
  6. Stahnsdorf = stahnsdorf (is a little town near Potsdam (germany) with a big cemetery of soldiers of the II World War.

Last Sigh: What music or bands inspire you to create such intense music? Does fascism or anti-fascism in Germany have a part to play in this? What if any is your philosophy behind your music? What's your stand on fascism/nazism? Is the anti-fascism movement gaining motion in Germany in the music scene?

LV21: If I am honest, it starts with Noisex and Sonar. I dont know, I´m sure that some bands do scratch on a fascism image, but I think that's not so serious. In my music I work with all, what interests me. I´m busy with fascism, church, war and other things right now. I´m an anti-fascist/nazi. I think they have created enough harm in the world.

Last Sigh: If there was one person you could work to create music, who would that be and why?

LV21: Oh, a difficult question. Richard 23 and Jean Luc De Meyer [Front 242] -- they are the greatest artists.

Last Sigh: Where can people get hold of your music? Are you signed or looking to get signed by a label or will you keep your work independently released?

LV21: My works are to hold on www.ohrenschmerz.de and on TESCO-Mailorder. I´m not signed by a label but I´m looking for one.

Last Sigh: What is the scene like in Germany for power percussion noise music? Do you think this type of music/sound is becoming more popular there? If so, what do you contribute as factors to this phenomenon? Are there quite a few shows going on throughout the year? What places or clubs could I see you play live if I were to come over? Do you usually play with other bands or are you mainly a solo act? Would you like to or do you think you'll ever tour in the USA?

LV21: NO, I think this music isn't becoming more popular. Many people listen now to other stuff. Today I can´t say where you could see me live. I'll let you be surprised!!! I have played with other bands: (Athrox, Morgenstern, fleisch macht böse) but as a solo-act. I would like to come over to the USA, but at the moment I can´t say if I will ever come. I´m sure, I would like it.

Last Sigh: What does the future have to hold for you and your music? What releases are out now and what can we expect in the future from you?

LV21: The show must go on... At the end of this year I will release a new album. The names of the old(er) CDs from OHRENSCHMERZ are "wider der norm" and "OHZ". You can see the cover of all CD´s on www.ohrenschmerz.de. In the future you can expect more pummeling sound and more scrambling voices. All the other remain a secret.

Last Sigh: Do you or will you have any MP3s online for us to hear? If so, where or where can we find them?

LV21: Yes! Please look at my Homepage, there you can download 5 or 6 tracks (example tracks!!! not complete)

Last Sigh: Thanks for taking the time for this interview. Do you have any other comments? Any advice for people just starting out in the power-noise genre of music?

LV21: BUY MY CD´S ! OK, don´t give the nazi-bastards and the chaots from the left side a chance.
