TMOTD:  we have 10 more minutes of chaos... THEN order

EXPLANT: I am god

Question:  what would you guys consider the "definitive" scar tissue?

TMOTD:  Beast Mix was me sampling my CD collection of "classic"
electro-industrial and layering them together
TMOTD:  and Powerclone, from Separator
TMOTD:  I love that one
TMOTD:  the TMOTD:  CD for sure
TMOTD:  that's SCAR TISSUE to me

Comment:  track one on TMOTD:   still gives me shudders, I love it so much. :)

EXPLANT: tingle tingle

AR:  do you ever just sit back and listen to your own tunes?

TMOTD:  all the time
TMOTD:  that's WHY we make music
TMOTD:  cant find what we want to listen to at the store, so we make it ourselves

EXPLANT:  I do
EXPLANT: ego is better than POT

Comment:  are you guys at all familiar with the "tracking" scene?

TMOTD:  um.. no .. what is it?

Comment:  its a form of music making that people use instead of buying huge samplers and synths, you can use this little shareware program
Comment:  hey trackers are cool
Comment:  trackers werent useful until they were modded to handle 16 bit samples
Comment: TMOTD: . if you have winamp i can show you a track

TMOTD:  i have WinAmp .. email me the link
TMOTD:  well.. i so far don't like uSin: g computers (PCs / Mac) to make music

Question:  TMOTD: : do you feel that computers dehumanize music making, or what?

TMOTD:  computers DO NOT dehumanize music making

Comment:  http://www.maz-sound.com is a great sight to check out Womb:  site

EXPLANT: Oakland, CA

Question : on the demo track Beast Mix: are the drum sounds made from a machine? and

its a great track..!

TMOTD:  i just like my samplers and effects boxes

EXPLANT: 16v are fun guys

TMOTD:  and stinky, too

Question: do you guyz think machines detract from the more human side of
music, or do you think they machines are epitomizing the technological-human condition of the era?

TMOTD:  jeee ZUSS

Krack:  heh

TMOTD:  that's too ... deep ... for me

Womb:  i ask about howard shore, because i really hear his influence in a lot of
dark electronic music... he's scored nearly all of david cronenberg's films

TMOTD:  an old reel-to-reel is a "Machine" .. a piano is a "machine"

krop3rom: : do you believe that world war 3 is happening now?

EXPLANT: the mediatization of music has colonized the intersubjective living space
between our unreasoning nonverbals

TMOTD:  it's such an artificial mental construct to separate "machine"
music from just "music"

krop3rom:  is it like "mechanical ambient biological programing"??

EXPLANT: language is technology

TMOTD:  now THAT"S a UC Berkeley education

Sin:  TMOTD: : LOL

Krack:  you guys went to Berkeley?

EXPLANT: fingers are like other digits

Womb:  scar tissue: what do you think of the power noise 'movement'; some describe it as the 'savior' of this scene (whatever that is)?

Sin:  yeah you have degrees at a univ?

TMOTD:  i think it's accurate to say power noise is rejuvinating the scene

EXPLANT: no salvation is possible

AQ:   what degrees did you pursue?

krop3rom:  hey TMOTD: . whats your address so that i can send you that song?

TMOTD:  I pursued, and caught, a degree in Physics

TMOTD:  Phil is the Autechre guy

Womb:  TMOTD: : but does it, power noise, personally appeal to you?

TMOTD:  womb: power noise has great stuff that i like, just like ambient or hip hop or any other style

Womb:  if so, which do you think are the stand outs . .

EXPLANT: no favorite Amber is good zoning music

Sin:  who writes what in your music? how DO you guyz think of this stuff?

TMOTD:  AQ:  : i wanted to be a high school Physics teacher...

pigeonholed in a manner, in your words, your entirely sick of?

Krack:  Would you call yourselves Agnostic or Atheist or what?

TMOTD:  yes, womb .. hence "Form/Alkaline"

TMOTD:  I'm Agnostic, but if i had to bet I'd say there are no "gods" in the usuall

Womb:  have your respective sex lives benefitted from becoming a 'recognized' music group? :)

AQ:   have you guys watched any movies of late that have left a deep impression on you?

TMOTD:  if i relied on underground-music-god status for sex, I'd be very unhappy

Sin:  what, if anything, do you guyz read? (outside of school for EXPLANT: )...

TMOTD:  AQ:  : i saw Bufalo 66 .. very good

EXPLANT: Fear and Loathing!

TMOTD:  i read a lot of non-fiction technology / science oriented stuff

EXPLANT: I read Habermas

NC: What about philosophy? Any favorites?

TMOTD:  it's Christina Ricci and ... damn, what's his name .. he wrote / directed / starred in it
TMOTD:  it's a total drifter / low-life romance story

Sin:  what did you use to get this blurry beat/sound on Pique?

Womb:  are either of you fans of the Dada/surrealist movements?

EXPLANT: DAda is ridiculous

TMOTD:  Sin: : for the drums?
TMOTD:  just ran them thru a Quadraverb then into a compressor

Womb:  EXPLANT: : is that a compliment or derision? :)

EXPLANT: both
EXPLANT: I like i

Sin:  TMOTD: : i hear cymbals. but there is this blurry/fuzzy beat going on in the background...

Krack:  What do you guys think of one day "industrial" being nearly un heard of and the next day, well... TVT and Nothing

TMOTD:  to answer your "start the music making process" question Krack:  .. we have none
TMOTD:  we don't have big flow-charts in the studio

EXPLANT: Music was a good alternative for a highschool education

Sin:  if you guyz get in at roskilde, will you take me with you as your sound analyst?

Krack:  you guys have any rituals with your music?

TMOTD:  usually we just start making noises and wait for something to "click"
TMOTD:  Sin: : you'll be official band-whore

AQ:   what is your favorite aspect of performing live?

EXPLANT: You may cum eith us

TMOTD:  performing live: man, i like it all .. setting up, playing .. hate tear-down though

tri: :  TMOTD: , EXPLANT: : when are you coming to atlanta? =)

TMOTD:  Phil is following the "dont ask dont tell" policy

EXPLANT: I was taking a piss actually

TMOTD:  -- coffee, alcohol, and the occasional clove

Sin:  other than caffeine?

AQ:   cloves? hehehe

EXPLANT: but I have been known tyo lie

TMOTD:  shut up
TMOTD:  hee hee

Krack:  You guys can plead the 5th on this one, but is your music influneced by chemicals or is that another life, or not involved at all?

EXPLANT: Pollution is my fav

TMOTD:  not involved at all, but it DOES enhance the pleasure of making the music sometimes

Krack:  i'm addicted to birth controll myself

TMOTD:  big latex monkey on your back?
TMOTD:  oh .. i have to plug a band..

Krack:  I have breasts like no man should

EXPLANT: POTHEAD

TMOTD:  Railgun... see www.wenet.net/~atomick/railgun/

TMOTD:  ewwww.. sports

AQ:   TMOTD: : what's railgun like?

EXPLANT: we just go "away"
EXPLANT: when we are not serving you

Krack:  Scar Tissue: I gotta plug myself for you... http://members.xoom.com/bz010/lofi/lofi.html .... while people are being pluged

TMOTD:  Railgun is the project of nathan, the guy who did a remix for Rebuild, and the cover art layout for our first CDs

TMOTD:  it's like Download meets good FLA, but no vocals

EXPLANT: I like to make up shitty band names

TMOTD:  Railgun has a new demo CD that he'll mail you .. go to his site... its really the best hard electro I've heard in a long time

TMOTD:  experimental, but rockin'
TMOTD:  EXPLANT: : bust out the band names

EXPLANT: e.g. Endangered Kayak
EXPLANT: e.g. Greasy Bible

Krack:  Do you guys listen to anything that isn't electronic or avant or experimental ect... some jazz, blues, classic rock, deathmetal, whatever?

EXPLANT: e.g. Strategic Hamlet
EXPLANT: E.g. Piss Midget

t3:  Greasy Bible .. yet another neat mental picture

EXPLANT: e.g. Instrumental Waffle

TMOTD:  i like small-combo Jazz, like Kieth Jharret stuff .. also hip-hop, noise-pop...
TMOTD:  how about Graffiti Hibachi

Somn: Scar Tissue: Do you believe its the equipment that makes the band or the musical skills behind it?

EXPLANT: coffee

TMOTD:  well.. yes
TMOTD:  its the band that CHOOSES the equipment

EXPLANT: Illogical Paradox

TMOTD:  but the equipment very much is in control of the structures and sounds

EXPLANT: sytem error

TMOTD:  Looser con Carne

EXPLANT: Me?

TMOTD:  no, lamer

Sin:  steve: when you have friends who are doing cds, give them my snail mail addy and have them pass one over to me.

EXPLANT: Why don't you come down hear and suck my disck?

Krack:  what do you guys think of the notion of being a "rockstar"

EXPLANT: We hate rock

TMOTD:  suck your disc?
TMOTD:  but we rock, nonetheless

EXPLANT: my disk

Krack:  not rock, i just mean the idolistic musician/artist sorta thing

tri: :  what do you guys think of velvet acid christ?

EXPLANT: I enjoy homage

TMOTD:  i like the idea of "rock stars" as a necessary cultural entity

Sin:  do you think that the element of a ROCK STAR element in electro/industrial is why electro/industrial isnt as popular as say, metal or NIN type of stuff?

TMOTD:  nah

Sin:  the element of a MISSin: G rock star?

TMOTD:  there ya go

EXPLANT: M. Manson replaced A. Cooper, a weird archetype or something

TMOTD:  i don't think its the # of people worshiping you that makes you a "star"

EXPLANT: a star is really just a ball of gas - I resent it

TMOTD:  you're next door neighbor may be a "star" to you because he's an awesome guitarist

Sin:  yah but why is it that electro/industrial hasnt really "caught on" with mainstream? (MM and NIN aside)

TMOTD:  cause it's NOT mainstream
TMOTD:  that's the point ... it's INVENTIVE

Sin:  but NIN and MM wasnt mainstream either in early stages

EXPLANT: People complain when you don't brainwash them correctly

TMOTD:  yes, they are

Krack:  What would you guys say to Brittany Spears if she asked for a remix?

Sin:  they werent in their early stages

TMOTD:  NIN has always had "verse/chorus/verse/bridge/chorus

Mr44:  mtv likes to find an established scene and rape it

t3:  NIN was mainstream from day one

Sin:  they were?

t3:  Pretty Hate Machine sounds like Erasure

EXPLANT: ??

TMOTD:  t3:  .. i agree

EXPLANT: whiny at least
EXPLANT: whiney

Sin:  ah..ok...but trent talks about expoSin: g the dark sides of human nature to theaudience, is that what makes it sell?

TMOTD:  it's still GOOD...

EXPLANT: So

Krack:  speaking of whiney, are you guys fans of "goth"?

AQ:   haha Krack:

Sin:  Goff

Krack:  heh
Krack:  goff

TMOTD:  we're not fans at all

Sin:  how about GWAR!

EXPLANT: We like to create confusion in the goth scene by breaking dress code

Krack:  you gotta love gwar

TMOTD:  hee hee ... true, Phil

Sin:  ex: heheheh its those CUT OFF SHORTS OF YOURS

Krack:  i go to goth clubs in clown suits and try to cheer them up

TMOTD:  now THAT'S alternative

EXPLANT: Who are those dorks? oh its scar tissue

Somn: Scar Tissue: How do you guys feel about the musical creations of Claus Larsen?

TMOTD:  yeah... "you cant come in here dressed like that!" ... "we're the BAND!"
.. "oh ..."
TMOTD:  I'm not a Larsen fan ...

AQ:   TMOTD: : lol, has that seriously happened to you?

TMOTD:  in various forms, yes

Sin:  TMOTD: : EX: have you heard Beefcake?

Krack:  Scar Tissue: What is the earliest music you remeber listening to?

TMOTD:  Beefcake .. no
TMOTD:  earliest music for me was barry manilow live album

EXPLANT: what is sad?

Krack:  aaaah
Krack:  i sympathize, mine was Air Supply

EXPLANT: our earliest?

TMOTD:  but my mom says I used to put on John Philip Sooza marches and march around in my diaper

Krack:  yeah Phil

Krack:  how old are you guys?

TMOTD:  9

EXPLANT: Golden Years by Bowie is my first fav. when I was 4
EXPLANT: 4

TMOTD:  my first concert was Barry manilow ... then Air Supply .. then Chicago

Sin:  beefcake: http://klangstabil.com/hymen

TMOTD:  i loved John denver too

EXPLANT: my first concert was the Mission UK - I was too disturbed by people to go to concerts until I was 16

Krack:  my first cnocert was Testament and Green Jelly

TMOTD:  and the Beatles, of course

Sin:  german drum bass experimental

TMOTD:  Phil and "issues"

TMOTD:  Krack: : not anymore

tri: :  Scar Tissue: would you tour with Ozzfest?

TMOTD:  we'll tour with anyone who has cool lighint
TMOTD:  lighting

Krack:  TMOTD: The Love Parade has some sweet lighting I'm sure

TMOTD:  Scar Tissue and Form/Alkaline will likely have tracks on a forthcoming dbl-vinyl comp

EXPLANT: brought to you by tek-interrupt

TMOTD:  it's called THE DOLL FACTORY,
TMOTD:  well, that's the label

AQ:   what other artists will be featured on there?

TMOTD:  one reacord is called WER IST DER KINDERMORDER?

EXPLANT: Wjat's a good name?

TMOTD:  the other is MURDER MACHINES
TMOTD:  the site for info will be http://doll.hypermart.com/
TMOTD:  it's not up yet though
TMOTD:  other bands like Aube, Coil, Not Breathing will be on it

Womb:  aube! coil! not breathing!

AQ:   sounds interesting

Womb:  what great company :)

t3:  wer ist der kindermorder is an awesome title
t3:  sounds like a german agatha christie thing :)

Sin:  whats it mean?

TMOTD:  yeah
TMOTD:  "Where is the child
TMOTD:  killer?"

Sin:  german right?

TMOTD:  (1) WER IST DER KINDERMORDER? -- Which, in German, means
"Where is the childa
TMOTD:  killer?" The reference is to Fritz Lang's seminal movie "M," which follows
TMOTD:  the trail of a serial child killer and his eventual capture by both the
TMOTD:  Underground and the Police. The atmosphere of the compilation should
TMOTD:  reflect the movie: dark, brooding, insane, paranoid, out-of-control, and
TMOTD:  unstoppable.
TMOTD:  () MURDER MACHINES -- A tribute to Fritz Lang's other popular film,
TMOTD:  "Metropolis." The title stands for the duality of the society presented:
TMOTD:  who not only suffer from a mob mentality towards destroying the oppressive
TMOTD:  machines, but also sacrifice their own lives to continue the workings of the
TMOTD:  machines.
TMOTD:  that's from the initial email I got from the label

Sin:  what label?

TMOTD:  they picked a ST track for one record, and a Form/Alkaline track for the other
TMOTD:  Kim: fyi, it's "Laszik" for ST and "EXPLANT: " for F/A
TMOTD:  label is The Doll Factory

EXPLANT: Which time?

TMOTD:  ha ha

Sin:  both great tracks yes

TMOTD:  our contract was done anyway
TMOTD:  so ... from a selfish standpoint, doesn't really bother us
TMOTD:  but it IS sad to see a label go under

EXPLANT: Don worked really hard, its too bad

Sin:  steve: the doll factory have a url?

Mr44:  http://doll.hypermart.com/

TMOTD:  the url will be http://doll.hypermart.com/

Sin:  ok

TMOTD:  but it's not up yet

Sin:  anyone have their email?
Sin:  when is that cd coming out?

TMOTD:  yes ...
TMOTD:  kryst (at) brainwashed.com

Sin:  ok
Sin:  thanks

Womb:  that cd sounds unbelievable

TMOTD:  it's only vinyl
TMOTD:  Railgun did a remix for us on Rebuild
TMOTD:  but it is NOT indicative of how they sound now
TMOTD:  mix Download and FLA (sans vocals)
TMOTD:  brb

EXPLANT: Who lives in SF or Oakland area?

TMOTD:  i do!

Sin:  i wanna be scar tissues official Fan Hoe

Sin:  do you guyz ever get together with other band members and jam?

TMOTD:  we never "jam" anyway

TMOTD:  we attempted a jam session with Nial of 3D House of beef

TMOTD:  i think remixing other people's stuff is the closest we get to
jamming with other artists

EXPLANT: Yeah

Sin:  TMOTD: : if i come to oakland area in the future, can i play your
drums/machines for a couple hrs to your new demo material on your stereo?

TMOTD:  oh sure
