Supporting the full length release of As One Aflame Laid Bare By Desire, Sam Rosenthal's Black Tape For A Blue Girl toured live this summer in the midwest USA. The sound live was very good considering the Subculture's history of PA problems. The band created an uncompromising air in the club with their music, a professional approach and style. Their set included songs off One Laid Aflame.. and a few previously released tracks. Most everyone was quiet in anticipation of what was to come, yet there were a couple people who, with their excessive loud discussion at the beginning of the set, interrupted the band and were asked to please either be quiet or get out, of which they immediately remained quiet, but I think they did leave early.
Songs played were: Given, As One Aflame, Overwhelmed, Turbulence and The Torment, A Good Omen, Gravity's Angel, Your One Wish, Denoument, Decomposed By The Fire Of The Firmament and a few others. The set was quite long, very enjoyable and relaxing to hear.
Black Tape For A Blue Girl live is a serious troup, one that commands respect from the audience, and is very disciplined in their artform. I was pleased to have finally met and heard Black Tape live, as it was a very positive experience for me to finalize the past years I have been listening to them with a live performance. If you find you are also a fan of Black Tape, don't miss them live in the future, as their performance is worth the time spent to see them. All of the members were very friendly and seemed genuinely passionate about their work. They were very kind in signing merchandise for fans and willing to chat with others. Thanks to Project Records Sam Rosenthal and members of Black Tape for taking the time to give us a rich taste of their talents on this tour. Come back soon to Michigan.
