Einstürzende Neubauten
Belgium, 1997

It was my 5th EN concert (my first was back in '89) in a beautiful redecorated concert hall, the AB in Brussels. The stage had the same club atmosphere as the last NV concert in Belgium, with a soberly lightened curtain in the back.

Hacke moved to bass, Unruh is still on the springs, two replacements were hired for guitar and percussion (need i say Blixa is on voices) I prefer the old Neubauten, but that is no more. My first idea was it was all too neat, too much under control, as the new members play too much according to the book. But i was glad to hear the Ende Neu tracks live, and enjoyed them. I heard they played quite messy at the Zillo Festival, and that they were much better in Belgium. I had no pen and paper, so i can't send a playlist. Blixa was in a good mood, so when people started to shout song names, (mostly Yu Gung), he answered: 'that song? it is so old! man, you make me feel sooo ooold.' and started another song of Ende Neu, or Tabula Rasa. The oldest song they played was 'Ich Bin's'.

At the end i went to the merchandising stand, with some special items:
- The EN Zippo (50 DM)
- The EN pocket bottle (50 DM)
- The EN DJ bag (35 DM) (bought one)
- The EN money clip (15? DM)
- The EN pin (9 DM)

(i guess 1USD is about 1,8 DM)

and two new limited cd's, not in the mailorder list:
- Stahldubversions (30 DM)
- live recordings 81-82 (30 DM) (bought it)

I both have them on tape (not original), but now i have one on cd :-)

as i already mentioned before: Yep, i'm a happy man :-)
