(Chris). Architect, yet another side-project of Daniel Myer of Haujobb
fame. If you like everything by this guy you probably already have this CD by now. Those
that don't should definitely consider it soon. No vocals at all and a bit drum & bass
but not overly dancy. The expertise at which Daniel does drum beats is
like no other. He doesn't use the repetitive 4/4-time rehash techno like a lot of other
bands today, but a much more varied delivery of excellence.
The packaging is of course by S.alt and is superb yet again. It
has a green transparent cover with a silver sparkling CD. Word alone cannot do it justice.
(Kim). The programming and synths are tasty on this release! Track two,
"Pastgate" is yes very well put together and quite in the Myer
vein of experimental work of which he is so well known. Leading into "Galactic
Supermarket", there is a quirky percussion beat with minimalist synth work of
swirling drone in the background and blurbs and bleeps on top of it all. Chris is correct
in his "non-4/4" observation with Myers work here -- its quite
offbeat (no pun intended), and exquisitely twisted. Actually, I prefer this work to most
of the Haujobb I have heard. There is quite a solid amount of warmth with
this release, it's not noisey or harsh, but smooth and non-obtrusive.
(Chris). Musically, standout tracks include "Pastgate"
with some other worldly vocal samples and keyboards. Songs like this justify the naming of
the CD. Track 6, Eat Rew, sounds a bit like it is frogs in space, floating around,
checking things out. A very minimal but interesting piece. Strangely enough this CD has a
lounge feel to it, but call me crazy for saying so. Very chilled out release all together.
Check out the vinyl release for more great tracks, also on Hymen as well.
