Metal De Metal
Track Listing
1. Quell
2. Mentalité Du Metal
3. Suppression
4. Calx
5. Unite Plate
6. Metal Du Mentalité
Using only
the sounds of metal as source material for this release, Akifumi Nakajima (Aube)
constructs low level drones and pitch that resonate the (molecular) sonic quality of the
substances, metal. Tightly bonded and elegantly fused, Metal Du Metal
exemplifies the basic harmonic quality of Akifumi's composing genius in
this mimimalist experimental work. Quell is high pitched hums and is
connected delicately with a swirling background. Mentalité Du Metal sounds like
sampled metallic chimes that softly shake in the wind and are wrapped with a mysterious
whirring layer resonating at differential paces of frequencies.
Suppression changes direction in sound structure and pace with a
mellow low spooky drone rising and falling in timbre with a chime being struck and looped
to effect more resonance throughout the track. Calx brings to mind the inner
workings of a wristwatch, metal gears shifting back and forth, ticking away the time
with a sense of mechanical prowess. This track has a great deal of structure, timbre
and captures the essence of precision. Incredible.
Unite Plate toys with subharmonic dronal growl and an increasing
resonance of raw harmonic snarling metal. Another incredible track that conjures up a
howling electronic storm. Metal Du Mentalité dives into more subtle sounds
of clanging and whispy thin wafer strands of chiming movement, grumbling rumbles accent in
the background.
This CD comes in a galvanized aluminum (?) metal folder with a clasp
holding it together. It's a must have for noise enthusiasts.
