Cleen never seems to disappoint, and their second effort, Designed Memories holds true to form with an exceptional sound that makes it one of the best albums I have heard so far this year. The Haujobb side-project's latest full-length release combines slower, more melodical electro with ghostly vocals, which make listening to this album a very haunting experience. I was absolutely impressed by the way the music and the vocals seemed to mesh perfectly together, creating an overall amazing and original sound. However, do not mistake this album as just another mellow electro release; tracks like "Seperate Live" and "Did You Forget?", which was my immediate favorite, are sure to pack the dance floor in any club. The versatility of this album, I think, is what appealed to me most; "Sunburst" starts off the album with a very smooth, upbeat electro sound, and the entire album builds up from there... from the pounding dance beats of "Did You Forget" to the almost darkwave feel of "Can't See." Of course, this album has the unmistakeable signature of Daniel Myer, which is reflected in the sometimes bizzarre lyrics, but that doesn't subtract from the brilliance of this album's production or the cohesiveness in which this album is put together. This is one CD that hasn't left my car CD changer since I purchased it. If you like Daniel and Thorsten's work, I strongly reccommend this album...you will not be disappointed. If anything, you will just gain more of a respect for their talent.
