Im almost embarrassed to be enjoying this. At first listening Id usually say,
great, more KMFDM wanna-bees grooving to techno, guitars, singing in German. The more I
listen though the more I like however. The drum programming on this album is actually
amazing compared to most bands of the same genre, and some of the random noise samples set
it pretty far apart from neighboring cop out bands.
The disk opens with three tracks packed with club 100%NRG arpeggios and
a little guitars. As we move one to Anuschka Corazon the guitars kick in and we
start to pick up a little more punch. As Regret rolls in, their actual talent
becomes apparent with very nice string loops and a few great drum programs. Im
starting to be reminded of Bigod 20 at this point.
Beyond this I find the rest of the cuts lacking. Kind of like, space
filling so that the album hits that 70 min mark. The only other note worthy songs are the
Nine Inch Nails cover Closer, which doesnt impress someone like me in the
least. I am not a Nine Inch Nails fan and I dont care who you are, when you cover
Closer, you get a big cringe from me.
I like the way this cd travels. I like where this band may very well be
going and would be interested in hearing what they do next. Personally I wouldnt run
to CD store for this cd unless youre a big 242 and Nails fan and wanna hear what
theyve done, but if you find a cheap copy somewhere and you wanna throw your hands
in the air, and wave em like you just dont care.... check this out, I
definitely enjoy almost half of this disk.
