Ice
1. 1 X-1 Ok, Ice.... It doesn't look very awesome. The name isn't catchy I got it because I figured, "hey, Justin Broadarick, it'll have to own." Ice is a lot more then just JK-Flesh, check this out: Justin Broadarick (Godflesh, and so on), Kevin Martin (God, Techno Animal), Dave Cochrane (God, Head of David), Lou Ciccolelli (God, Fall of Because), with guests like: Scott Harding, DJ Vadim, Sebastion Laws, Blixa Bargold, Toastie Tyler, EL-P, A-Syde, Sensational, and Priest. This isn't a band.... this is an army of funked out, noise wounded, bass heads that rap, scream, play bass, sax, spin wax, guitars, drums, and various other percussion's and ethnic sort of instruments. I'd hate to say all these tracks sound alike, but I'd be pressed to pick them apart. "Trapped in Three Dimentions" is really my favorite track and stands out for that reason alone, otherwise I'm at a loss. But don't take that the wrong way, it's not a collection of songs, this album is more like a bunch of friends together in a studio jamming for hours. God is the same way to me, no independent songs on an album, just one good long 70min jam with a pile of wild characters. Bad Blood is music that I enjoy most as I speed around in my midget sports car, with my windows down and lighting up the streets with enough bass to leave potholes behind me. In all seriousness, I do like the disk a lot, but noise, funk, hip-hop, jazz and GOD don't make martini's when you blend them up. As much as I can get into it, it's rare I speed home from work dying to hear my Ice because I've had that one song stuck in my head all day. But any God or Techno Animal freak would have a weekend in Disney Land with this disk. |
