"There will be no order, only chaos." If the music on this CD was written in some cryptic code, that would be a very fitting translation.
"Ensemble Sacres Garcons", which is French for "The Blessed Boys Party", is made up of harsh and mechanical structural noise, with the squeal of a rusty hinge swinging throughout each track.
If the genre of "Industrial" was coined in response to man-made industrious surroundings, then this collaboration takes it to a new extreme. They seem to actually imitate the ambience of a noise laden factory.
You should be able to tell from that description alone that most of this disk is unsettling, with the ability to grate whatever nerves you let it. But other songs are soothing in an odd sort of way, with a unique familiarity.
Most people wear ear plugs on the job to drown out these sounds in hopes of still hearing by the time they're forty. These are most likely the same folks who go home after work and keep Rod Stewart's career alive. For those of you who are into the more tumultuous end of the musical spectrum, this disk captures the essence of noise pollution, replete with smooth flange, distorted vocals, and otherwise chaotic manipulation.
