This is the latest release from the prolific Bill T. Miller, and even he agrees that it's the most "normal" of all his projects. It's the closest to radio friendly that he's ever come.
"Rules" is a disk of heavy handed, sample infested sludge rock with enough gritty distortion for three grunge bands. Some blues riffs are mixed with Vernon Tart's raspy vocals, which resemble the phlegmy growl of a hardened criminal chain smoker.
"Violent and Aggressive" is a misleading title considering it's one of the slower, more melodic tracks on the disk. It also takes on a serious tone amid the mainly tongue-in-cheek subject matter.
Even though most of these songs sound like a four-piece, there are 16 King's of Feedback in all. With their dingy sound they would probably make a good bar band. Somehow the music seems like it would fit a room clouded with smoke and crowded with guitar amps.
At the end of the disk there are four bonus cuts from Orgy of Noise, another sibling in the dysfunctional family of Miller's twisted brainchildren. As the name might suggest, cut and paste porn samples are worked into experimental sound collages. If nothing else, it's good for a laugh.
