For those who don't have the luxury of owning a turntable, Drop Beat has consolidated David Kristian's Ectopic Beat 12" EP and Downpour's Windstorms Broken Microphones into a single split compact disc release.
Canadian artist David Kristian's half of the CD consists of four tracks. Kristian experiments with distorted breakbeats and tape loops, creating an analog-forged breed of intelligent drum 'n' bass. Ectopic Beat goes toe-to-toe with Squarepusher, Aphex Twin, and many of their Warp labelmates.
Downpour is a solo project of Chris Adams, hailing from the United Kingdom. Adams is also a member of the avant-garde rock band Hood. In contrast to David Kristian's more minimalist approach, Downpour lays on the beats thick, heavy, and at high velocities. Tight breakbeats and bass bombardment, not to mention highly sophisticated undercurrents, is what Windstorms Broken Microphones is all about.
For those who prefer vinyl, both EPs are available seperately on vinyl from Drop Beat.
