Is this what pop will sound like in the upcoming century? Cranes´s Mark Francombe collaborated effort in which most songs have a dream pop feeling to them that results in sort of a Lush-goes-techno sound. An unimprovable LP debut and a logical follow-up to their homonymous Mini CD.             An ever-present distorted guitar against a dreamy background formed by samples and loops is the distinctive feature of this band. Female vocals give an additional pinch of sweetness, although -- talking about contrasts -- some of the lyrics are not all that sweet "I´m inside your fucking head."
At times they give in to industrial ("Blue Psycho"). At times they go as poppy as their conscience allows them ("Reality Bites"). This Swedish two-piece formed in 1995 breaks ground by going plain. A pretty straightforward make-up to the tunes -- mostly 3-or-4 note structure -- blending fantasy-like, trippy synths and aggressive, awakening guitars, lures the listener to a trap, envelopes him, and wont let go until the music stops.
