1. Propaganda
2. Happy Vacation Day For World Leader
3. Irradiated
4. Remember the Aftermath
This CD is an
interestingly packaged reissue of a limited edition tape from 1997. Limited to 50 copies,
it's the first in an "Exhumed" series of reissues from Germany's Verbrannte Erde
Productions.
The title track is a mix of pure electronic noise and heavily clouded audio samples
dealing with issues surrounding Nostradamus and the apocalypse. Although at times the
voices are indistinguishable, you can pick up most of what's being said. It's like
listening to a radio with really poor reception; harsh, noisy soundscapes with static
imbued doomsday samples.
Since the issues of Hitler and Nazism in this opening track are perhaps
even more taboo in Germany than the rest of the world, a disclaimer has been included that
discredits any assumptions of the song glorifying these atrocities.
"Happy Vacation..." is an appropriate title, since it's a
departure from what you would expect after the lengthy "Propaganda". This is
where elevator music meets noise. Spurts of squealing feedback and vocal screams are
spread out over relaxed organ music and easy going percussion.
"Irridiated" seems to pick up closer to where the first track
leaves off. Faint feedback-masked vocals are layered over beat box rhythms and slight
harmonics. This is by far the easiest track to listen to, as it strays from the chaos.
If music this good is long out of print then it will be interesting to hear what
Verbrannte Erde can dig up next to join this disk in the ranks of the exhumed.
