Recorded on Skinny Puppy's 1988 Ain't It Dead Yet? tour, and
released on video the following year, this CD version of the show did not hit the streets
until 1991. The cover is a rather drab affair, and the track listing contains two errors:
the song listed as "God's Gift" is actually "One Time One Place," and
"Brap" is "The Mourn." However, as always, the material contained on
the CD does not disappoint, and to enhance the feeling of actually listening to a live
recording, the music is presented as one long continuous track.
While all the songs on Ain't It
Dead Yet? are faithful to the original album tracks, they are even more dynamic in the
live recordings, and feature some elaborations here and there. More exciting than the
songs themselves, however, are the interludes between songs. In a number of instances, Ogre
yells additional lyrics between the songs, and Key and Goettel provide
improvisational background atmospherics.
