SubArachnoid Space Track Listing This is Subarachnoid Space's first true studio recording, which follows a trio of live albums dating back to their debut in '96. They call it improvisational experimental psychedelia, if that means anything to you, basically meaning they've taken a free-form approach to rock music with the motto of anything goes. Conventional instruments like the guitar, bass, anddrums are the most prevalent, with some uncommon additions like thewaterphone and hammer dulcimer finding their way into the mix. The melancholic organ on the opening track sets the listener up for a moody album, and each track capitalizes on a different set of emotions. The title of track five, "Safety In Numbers", is actually a pun, although you wouldn't be able to tell until reading the credits that list a total of nine contributors involved in this song. Numerous guest performers show up on this disk, including Not Breathing's Dave Wright, Kris Force of Amber Asylum, and Anthony Petrovic of the Gay Barbarians. The studio setting hasn't stifled their experimentation, and I expect Subarachnoid Space to keep things fresh by endlessly renovating their lineup and sound. |
