"The
Iniquity of Time" is the debut release for Audio Paradox. Members Josh Pyle (vocals,
programming, sampling, keyboards and guitar), Matthew Edwards (keyboards, programming and
backing vocals) and River Tunnel (guitar, bass) have created an amalgamation of
electronica, techno, industrial, and gothic musics.
"Time to Burn" opens the CD with a throbbing rhythm and a
melody like a Mobius strip. Pyle's vocals are the monotone recitation that this style
seems to demand, which is not bad, only predictable.
"Transgression" is a more industrial composition with gothic
elements (especially the vocal) and it is the highlight of the CD. It's layers and rhythms
are curious and attractive. "Grace One" is industrial as well, but it leans much
more toward electronica with its danceable beats and hooks.
"Parasitic" appears twice on the CD, the second time as
"the fistful of spaghetti mix." The song has ominous synth melodies and razor
slices of guitar to accompany Pyle's menacing lyrics and venomous delivery. The remix is
more sinister, with a droning intro and more harsh synth lines.
Audio Paradox will appear on the compilation "Ebb and Flow: A
Tribute to Nitzer Ebb." |
