Family Of God

We Are The World

Family of God is Adam Peters
(keyboards, string arranger for Echo and the Bunnymen)
and Chris Brick

The boys behind Family of God define their sound as 'Mystic Disco". While neither mystic, nor truly disco, the album lurches Frankenstein like from genre to genre in an attempt to find a home or at least a warm place to relax and possibly get some mental help. The nine tracks on this album divide themselves between a more alt-rock approach and an attempt at a sort of new wave electronica.
The more rock oriented tracks on this album shamble stylistically, going from Echo and the Bunnymen style melodic pop (Bunnymen guitarist Will Seargeant ironically contributes guitar to the album) to strange fractured cow punk rave ups. The more electronic parts of the album are just as schizoid ranging from lush fourth world ambience to Depeche Mode style synth pop. This isn't an album for the faint of heart, in the end the ever ending style switching is Children of Gods undoing. A pity, you would hope that you get something a little funkier from a bunch of blokes using the term "mystic disco".
