An especially tasty release, Gothic Club Classics brings you the top of
the line artists and tracks on this double disc release from Oblivion/SPV. As the title
relays, twenty-eight tracks exemplify the Gothic aural theatre of past which paints a rich
assortment of excellent bands to the forefront of the dark music canvas.
All of the tracks on this release are worthy of your listening if you
enjoy Gothic music. Obviously, Oblivion knows their stuff ! From the famed Nick Cave and
The Bad Seeds, to Bauhaus, to Einstürzende Neubauten, the songs on Gothic Club Classics
is a rich and diverse blend of dancey woeful and harsh expression of human drama, good and
evil, and walking the line. The first CD is a little more softer in music than the second
disk, which has a more harsh agressive tendency, with the exception of the EN, Angina
Pectoris and Children of No Return tracks.
This release is highly recommended to those of you who are old time
listeners of the Gothic scene, or just getting into this sound. If you have never heard
any Gothic music, I suggest you get this release as an introduction to the genre. Hail to
Oblivion for releasing this uncompromising collection of the best of the Gothic hits.
