Meg Lee Chin. If the name doesn't ring a bell, shame on you! She is the
front woman for Pigface [Invisible Records], and was recently on tour with The Damage
Manual [Martin Atkins, Georgie Walker, Charles Levi, Lee Fraser, and Chris Connelly. Meg
Lee just completed her own tour of the midwest and West Coast USA on a stand alone tour.
This release compliments and remixes songs off her recent release, Piece and Love also on Invisible Records, 1999.
Martin Atkins helped to write and produce part of these tracks, as well
as being a performer on the CD, the tracks were remixed by the following artists: Lee
Fraser [Bagman, Sheep on Drugs], Jed and the Fish and Critter, Martin Atkins, Martin King,
and Chris Greene, and what a great job they did!
"Junkies and Snakes" is a hearty blend of deep pulsing bass
lines, drums, electronic synths, percussion, guitar and of course, Meg Lee Chin spoken
word and singing. You really don't have to see her perform live to appreciate this
release, but it sure does help! Her live perfomance was equally as good as this release,
of which she supported on her last tours. All tracks on this release are excellent.
Great production, excellent vocals, enticing melodies, dramatic changes and thought
provoking lyrics.
Hail to Meg Lee Chin and Martin Atkins for this one! If you aren't familiar with Meg Lee's
work, and aren't afraid to make some intelligent choices in hearing new music, get this
release.
