Little Miss Conception goes back to the roots of gothic music with
their self-released album "The Plate Glass Fallen Sky". Slow, haunting melodies
and rhythms set the stage for this act hailing from Louisiana and originally from Orlando.
Minimal amounts of electronics but robust use of chorused guitars
provide a spooky ambience for this release. The melodies remain simple and the harmonic
textures of thickly reverberated guitars point to older methods of goth music. However,
the mixes seem a bit muddy, as the vocals are faintly audible.
This is a more accessible and welcome example to goth music for me, as
the thick ambient nature and haunting textures dominate this release. For anyone into
current goth music, this is worth looking into. |
