On this release Noxious Emotion is: Michael Wimer, Godboy, Fritter and
R. Wilhelm. The sound of "Elements" is very reminiscent of Noxious
Emotion's prior release, "Count Zero" in terms of beats and vocals. The rhythms
have changed to a less monotonous beat with more varied deep percussion and rhythms [in
part]. The music has developed with more background synth melody and harmony.
The release has flavor of industrial dance, rendering it perfect for
club play. The lyrics are varied, ranging from issues of the mystery of being and the
ineptness of man relative to his/her perfection during life, to the conception of life via
the act of coitus [this seems to be a favourite theme in the past with Noxious Emotion],
and death. The vocals throughout the tracks are a bit tedious [which are male], and
somewhat guttural. None of the sounds or beats really offset this for me and I find the
vocals rather annoying at times, that is, too repetitive and similarly monotone on each
track for my tastes. Otherwise, this is a great release for dance clubs or airplay. If you
are a fan of Noxious Emotion, you'll probably really enjoy "Elements". |
