Our youngest musician/composer to date, Ryan King [15] has released his
demo material in support of his forthcoming release "Electronic Apocalypse"
which is a very tasty assortment of quality electronic work in the areas of
industrial-techno-edge experimental and haunting electronic dance music.
Sounds range from drifting background synths to aggressive dance beats
with quite a few effects and a few vocal samples. The beats are very catchy, the
percussion changes are exemplary and diverse. The basslines are rich and blend nicely with
"swishy" drums and at times an ambient [noise] synthscape bringing out an
upbeat mood in the first three tracks: "Dracula in Advanced Technology",
"Dead" and "Dead Machine".
"Cyber Massacre" is also beat heavy but softer drums and sets
a darker mood than the first three tracks, another good dance track. [DJ's take note.] The
supporting track "Electronic Apocalypse" uses a dark ambient orchestral
background with drums and keys accenting the overall composition. "Haunted"
takes on an identity of its own with upbeat bassy drums, howling samples that could have
been taken from an old movie about werewolves, spooky "muah-ha-ha's" and gurgles
-- a delightful track which would be great for use at a club or on radio during Halloween.
The final track, "Wasteland", combines drums, soft keyboard
melody with changes and additions of vocal sampling [film: The Matrix], dance beats and
synth effects bringing it full circle as a creative piece of electro-wizardry. Overall
this release shows great promise for Ryan King. We'll be getting his full version of
"Electronic Apocalypse" soon and will post the review in this issue. I suggest
radio and club DJs to contact Ryan for a copy. Ryan is also looking to be signed with a
label in the future. He is currently working on other music projects.
