SaVaK, one Scott Beebe of Possessive Blindfold Records [PBR] and the now defunct Holocaust Theory, brings us a politically intense and moving piece of work with "Four.Hundred.Forty.Four.Days", sonically charged music with topics based around revolt, secret police states, terrorism and religious differences in Iran. Based on the vision of a religous cleric that was "forming fundamentalist groups that were completely opposed to the Shah's rule" in the 70s", and that this "cleric would return to Iran and overthrow the Shah" [SaVaK cover]. The "cleric" was later to be known as Ayatollah Rhuollah Khomeini." In 1979, "three thousand fannatical shiate muslim students stormed the American Embassy in Tehran", holding Americans hostage for four hundred forty four days.
SaVaK is the sound manifestations of Scott Beebe's ongoing research concentrating on "the workings of [the] secret Iranian police and international political terrorism." He makes mention on the CD cover, "this project does not support terrorism tactics in any form nor does it support counter-terrorism in any form."
The music is equally intense as it is based on the political subject matter of terrorism in the mid-east. Heavy pounding percussion, explosive noise, dark rumbling, chaotic beats, progressive rhythms and harmonic synth fx define the overall injections of this sonic assault. Known for the power noise percussion releases on PBR. SaVaK is no stranger to these styles of music. '444 Days' is a testament to the high quality of sound and originality of music residing with PBR. A must have for people who are interested in noise, powerbeats, international terrorism and politically charged music.
