Truly an inspiration, especially to the women in this great music scene, Wench is a phenomenal sound located in the forefront of the electronic goth-industrial-edge genres with a flair of the Middle Eastern sound. This debut release from Frances Byrne is remarkable. Her eclectic tastes in sound and some of the reason behind this release, stem from her passion to learn more about:

...all the different tribal rhythms I had learned, as well as the relation between music and religion / spititualty and sacred music of different cultures. I then tried adding alot of unusual and futuristic sounding samples such as explosions and alien-like screams, going for more of an "ancient-future" sound and feel, also doing alot of delicate dreamy like soundscapes intertwined with heavy percussion , dynamics and some slightly earpiercing samples, going from a very quiet and beautiful sound into something noisy and chaotic.

Francis goes on to comment:

Some of the song themes were also inspired by biblical and mythical woman such as Salome, Judith, Eve, Ophelia and other "fallen women" and beautiful women gone mad, as well some post-apocalyptic themes as in "Wasteland" and spiritual topics like "Voodoo" and "Tantra.

Indeed the music on "Wench" reflects these women and moments in a surreal and oftentimes harsh yet beautiful means. The overall sound of the release is of excellent quality and very professional. The compositions are well thought out and diverse in range of mood, tempo, rhythm, sampling and sound processing. Wench is a must have for those of you who wish to hear some new sounds in your music library.
