Here is a
demo tape from an upstart electro project in New
York. Joe Abrescia presents his form of digital carnage, Aural Blasphemy.
This is a quick 5 track demo tape that I'll share with friends and see
if I can pass along to interested listeners :)
I'm no record company exec (if I was, I'd have no time for this mag
nor would I be in any position to review. Who's complaining?) so it's not
like I could sign anyone. If I *could*, I'd probably ask for this to
improve just a bit. I do like this. There is ample distortion and drone
combined with non-standard electro fare, which is pleasing, but the
production work needs a bit of improvement. Not like this is intended to be
a complete example, but the tracks, albeit quite cool, sound somewhat hollow
at times. There is little harmony or melody, which I guess is the point,
but I'd prefer more complex or clever percussion/drone programming.
I look forward to Aural Blasphemy's future work, as this is most
certainly not bad. I'm always pleased with good noise work and drones,
and while I'd rather hear more complexity and interest peaking subject
material, I'm hoping that more material from this band incorporating more of
the thick percussion and sick drones on the demo tape will surface.
