Bob Marinelli / Outermost

Split Recording

Track Listing

Side A. Bob Marinelli - Yellow Brick Road
Side B. Outermost - Monstron

With a name like, "Yellow Brick Road," I have to admit I was expecting ambient and that's why the surging pulsations of mutilated shrieks drowning in torturous, medical, experimentational fantasies sort of took me by surprise. The recording sort of makes me think of watching a black and white movie of someone being probed and cut up as waves of static distort the image and sound. Unfortunately, this fun doesn't last. The Outermost side is okay, but nothing too interesting. While the Bob Marinelli side sounded like you could hear actual samples dying into the stew of static and wires, this Outermost side is really quite typical noise with mid-range pulsations speeding up and slowing down and something that sounds like an air plane here and there and then lots of hollow sounding grinding sounds now and again.
