Another excellent
release from Karl K at Daham Recordings, "Rohstoff" brings us tasty treats of
techno- blends, harsh power electronica, ambient-edge drum & bass and experimental
industrial with a wide range of incredible artists in the scene.
Daham artist FAV, (Michael Krauss) brings his talents to the
compilation with "Bialek" and "Leiche", two great tracks --
pulsing melodic electronica and speed techno chaos. Likewise, Karl K of B-TON-K/PULS
injected his two tracks: "Elecktritter" and "Robot Girl (E-shock
vers.)", consisting of militant beats, low-end bassy percussion and swirling
synth/vocal effects.
Rouckas' exclusive tracks, presents the listener with a rapid fire,
mechanical power noise slap in "Overloaded" and incredibly good, deep bass
beats, high end drum and noise experimental work in "Trash Type 2.0" (excellent
track!) Shinjuku Filths' track, "The Art" incorporates a more 'sampled'
neo-classical edge of ambient electronic, and "Stung 7"" -- a spicey track
of swift changes, intense drum and bass, and blended with a melodic background.
Infacts' two tracks: "Fire" and "Compression"
combine industrial overtones of militant beats, lightly treated vocals, power-noise and
high pitch resonance with dancey synth melody. Cleen's "High Places" (Music
Research) is a testament to the meandering work of D. Meier (Haujobb) -- a track with deep
pulsing drum & bass lines, light synth and quick changes in tempo in this piece of
aural artwork.
S'Apex delivers a minimalist, pure synth drum beat, swerving
electro-treat in "Electrocute." Photic Sonars' "Scan" is
minimalist bass-synth, noise-squeeks-blurb injections, with a female sampled speaking in
German, and a male sampled in English layered on a twisting melody, while "Love"
is quite different leaning towards more of a gentle deep ambient bass-pulse noise
combination.
Rohstoff is an overall excellent release, recommended highly due to being
very offbeat and original. Thanks to
Karl K for producing such a great release!
