Recorded over a period of time ranging between 1996 and 1998, Michael Krauss of FAV, has created a diverse and intelligent assortment of music integrating electro-shifts in noise, techno, industrial, gabba. EBM etc. No two songs are alike, which greatly compliments the release. Residing in Regensburg Bavaria, Germany, the works of one Michael Krauss portray a part of the culture which surrounds him from using a sample of an "asshole policeman" to the aural discussion of "arms producing factory Heckler & Koch", and von der gemeinsamkeit, "about community" which reflects on population from two to billions. In addition, the lyrics remain in German. The aggressive heavy approach to FAV's style can best be heard in most of the tracks, however a more gentle less aggro yet remaining a noisey electro-melodic sound occur in Verschweigen & title track,  Selection Bias.
Militant power beats, drum and bass, expansive noise and harmonic melody  and noisey shifting bombardments are a few of the aural means by which FAV introduces his work on Selection Bias. Some of the tracks include speedy races with rhythm, clanking and sub-melodic distortion, while others combine shorts bursts of treated raspy vocals, pumping hydraulic percussion and sonic assult.
Overall this release is a hefty reassurance there is still original music being produced in the world of "pure" electronic music. This CD was mastered by Rudy Ratzinger of ":Wumpscut:", and does a fine job to exemplify and expand the broader side of creative efforts coming out of Germany. Miscellaneous is a must have for those of you who enjoy hearing a new voice of resurgent, aggressive electronic music.
