Music For Restaurants
Tape/A & B side

When comes to creativity, whether on a canvas or a synth, Julie Frith comes to mind. From the early waves of post rock/punk/industrial music of Julie Frith and Brian Ladd as The Psyclones, collaborations with Pierre Jolivet from (Pacifica 231) in PSY 231, to her ambient textures and drifts in her music with Brian Ladd (Frith-Ladd), as well as her solo music and art projects, Julie Frith is one of the most prolific artists in the field. My own testimony as to the effect of Music For Restaurants, I decided to grab a bowl of veggie fried rice and listen to this release, and of course, I found them to be a perfect combination!
It's kind of hard to believe that this release is nearly ten years old. It is quite experimental-ambient. It leans towards being more Eastern influenced in terms of the single note plucking of strings, flutes, metal/percussion, water bowls(?), and other instruments/sounds used traditionally those Indo-Asian-Oriental genres. There are also sounds of nature; birds chirping, insects chattering, the gentle growl of the wind in an approaching storm and wood on wood clatter. Wonderful music.
