Jester's Longevity presents
"Fluency", a cassette-only release from Jack Kettle Records from Tennessee (!). Billed as a Sampler-Free Recording,
"Fluency" presents grooves of a dub nature with experimental tape manipulation
and beats.
I started listening to this tape before I actually read the
liner notes. I was quite impressed with the
production; the beats truly got into my soul, and what beats they are :) I"m typically not a huge dub fan, but this is
very laid back yet powerful groove. The fact
that it's sampler-free really floored me. Seriously,
these guys are really talented. I thoroughly
enjoyed this, and all through the album are sound manipulations typically done with
samplers - for instance, noise and delay filtered and tweaked by hand rather than purely
programmed. The vocal and speech samples
compliment the beats nicely. Very impressive
indeed :)
