"JLIAT is about synthesis of sound as a means to produce pieces which are able to transcend the systems which make them. The cultural, logical systems in general and those of musical composition(s) in particular.... The general cultural systems relate specifically to those which follow a fairly 'enlightenment' - neo-platonic approach to creativity. The consequences of such systems are observed in the 'crisis' in post-modernist thought and art. Perhaps we have been listening to the sound of music and we should be listening to the music of sound."      -- Quoted out of context from:
The JLIAT Web Site

As you read above, JLIAT seems to be an ambitious sound creator. His works are within the realm of minimal-sound forging as can be read on his pages; "Minimalism [in sound] is the making of music out of the sounds of the objects themselves."  This 12" vinyl is just that, minimalist sound. Two tracks of humming ambience. It is quite a peaceful work, and would be an appropriate piece to fall asleep to or calm your nerves. There are no beats or rhythm on this release, but merely long drawn out layers of sound. The two tracks left me feeling rather content inside, not restless...which seems to be one of JLIAT's aims in creating such works, ie. effect of minimal sound on the listener. May is an interesting piece of work and worthy of attention to those of you how are interested in psycho-physical [minimal] sound research, instead of 'music perse.
