"A+0[m]"
marks the second full length release from Kevorkian Death Cycle on Metropolis Records.
This release is much more mature in sound than the first release, Dark Skies. Comprised of Roger Jarvis, (keys and
programming), Ryan Gribbin, (vocals and guitar), Zach Herr, (drums), and Sean Caane,
(programming and keys), A+0(m) is definitely a release for those who enjoy the dance side
of industrial-edge electronic music.
Signs continue pointing at Kevorkian Death Cycle's influence by Dr.
Jack Kevorkians fight for justice and dignity for the terminally ill with their lyrics,
which speak of death, escape, a "choice that's made by violent killers", and
"reaching for dreams of escape." With titles like: "Death To The
Flesh", "The Doorway", and "Pulse" you can read the
empathy. The most unusual track on the release is "Escape Part I", which is a
beautiful acoustic guitar piece, lyrics and vocals (untreated), with a minimal amount of
synth work, and sounds like it was recorded live. Likewise, "Escape Part II" is
also a bit off from the usual KDC path, and sounds more organic, some synth work, but
mainly live drumming (sounds) and a mello, somber post-partum type of ambience. Kevorkian
Death Cycle is on tour now supporting A+0[m]. Check Metropolis Records for tour dates.
If you aren't familiar with the Michigan USA
resident Dr. Jack Kevorkian, he lead the struggle for the Right To Die With Dignity issues
in the past decade by attending to the terminally ill with his expertise in helping them
with Physician Assisted Suicide. The 'Right To Die' issue (not favored by Dr. Kevorkian),
went to ballot/vote in 1998 but was cut down by the conservative Republican Party in
Michigan. Now Dr. Kevorkian leads the struggle in prison.
"A Michigan jury recently convicted Kevorkian, 70, on March 26 of second-degree
murder and drug delivery charges in the lethal injection of Thomas Youk, 52, a Lou
Gehrig's disease patient. A videotape of the injection was later shown on national
television. Kevorkian is serving a 10- to 25-year prison sentence, and has vowed to appeal
to the U.S. Supreme Court if his request for a new trial is denied." --
