Another
one of these bands -- "Hey, I've got a cool and innovative idea! Let's try and mix
electro and industrial by making rave music with distorted vocals and not using any
industrial elements whatsoever! Furthermore, let's copy off the other thirty-million bands
who did it a decade ago!" "Wow, great idea, and let's remember to thank the guys
from Skinny Puppy and Front Line Assembly because then that will make us seem more
underground and elite even though SP and FLA cds are sold in Sam Fucking Goody!"
This really is your everyday cookie cutter electro band. Dance
beats with distorted screams and whispers and lots of technoid sequences layered ontop.
There's one track on this entire recording, "Melting Spirit," which is very
original and really sounds great. Sort of trip-hopish with a slowed-down breakbeat and
additional percussion neatly woven within it. Subtle atmospherics, slowly cascading pads
and mutilated violinesque sounding tones fill the space as whispers brush on the surface.
I'd actually buy the album just for this track. If the album was predominately this sort
of thing with like two "rave here, rave there, boom boom boom shake yo' booty"
type tracks, I'd be raving, no pun, about it.
Production-wise it's very good and it's very, very apparent that
they know how to use their equipment well and how to utilize a studio or homestudio. If
you get your jollies by buying cds that your friends haven't heard of or are loosely
labelled "industrial," this is for you one-hundred percent.
