Not surprising that this release kicks ass. Genuis Don Gordon is a master with his machines. This release supports the full length of "Language Of Silence", a 1998 release off Metropolis. "Suspended" has David Collings on vocals, oooh baby he kicks it hard as well -- a shot away from screaming... vocals you can still make out what he is saying, "Suspended... addicted.... remain.... restricted."  These mixes are all very strong in beat, intensity, quality and composition. I just don't think Numb can do any wrong in terms of putting out music.  If you haven't ever seen them live, you should. Don is currently in London, so it's anyones guess when he will tour again.
I really enjoy each track on this CD. The sounds include drum programming (excellent percussion), crashes (and other assorted noisey things going on), boomboomboom's, guitar (oh don't let that bother you, it's *tasty* guitar as a backup to the noise), tight synth programming, and tidbits of melody in the background. Track two "Distorted Logic Mix" just *rumbles* with intense percussion and synth... dang! Great track! Almost trancey, if not trance... Track Three "ElectroniKaka" (cracked me up when I said the title outloud), is also a bassy electronic ;et's dance and space out type of mix. It has a tribal feel to the beat, sounds like someone was using something fun to create this in terms of drums or some other machine. Robert Shea is listed as taking part with this one, he is Map Music (Records) up in VanCouver, Philth's label....as well as many other excellent artists from that area.
The last track, "Axiom" is again an excellent rendition of "Suspended" with Ken "Hiwatt" Marshall taking part in the mix with Numb. Tasty treat this is! You can imagine the darker/puppy (dark industrial) oriented influences here! Really great..! It makes me want to get up and dance....you can't deny the pounding beat and dark bassy synth in this track. Not something you want to play for your parents....definitely at a party, or to wake up with in the morning, because it will certainly kick your ass in gear.
Don't miss this release, its worth every track. Fans of Numb won't in the least be disappointed by Suspended. I hear Don has a new project. Watch for it in the near future.
