Oneiroid Psychosis Track Listing According to the band, this is the "official cursed album." Setbacks galore have plagued this album since it's conception. Problems included changing labels, changing UPC codes etc..., pushed back the release date of "Garden of Remembrance." Was it worth the wait? This is the first example of Oneiroid Psychosis' that I've ever heard, so I really have no basis to judge this against previous efforts. I've heard *of* the band before, but never actually listened to their work. This initial offering, then, made a pretty positive impression. Drawing styles from gothic and light synth work, Oneiroid Psychosis creates somewhat of a minimal texture of music to work with. The songs on this release generally have a very somber and almost morose tone to them while they are definitely the work of synthesizers, with striking tones and rich pads galore. According to their webpage, the members do not have a massive plethora of gear to work with, and it kinda shows. The sounds and programming are somewhat similar on each track, and an overall almost dirty and digital texture is found on a lot of the sounds. Not to complain, however, the tracks are good. It just seems that they can get, at times, almost forgettable. The music is good, and the underlying ominous dark tones add flavor. The vocals are bleak and also have the sinister mood to them. There's not a great deal of things going on at all times - This seems to be the idea, however, and it's relayed nicely. |
