Many Ocosi projects are featured on the "Radius Suck" compilation. Blankmove, sadist, surface and task. A truly fantastic collection of underground electronic music. From Stateside to the UK an excellent array of tracks featuring techno, hiphop, darkhop, dub and ambience this is a must for the true sound terrorist. -- OCOSI Web
OCOSI is:
PaulSM: Programming, guitar,demixing
SimonJS: programming, bass,voice
Ocosi was the first project set upon by PaulMS and SimonJS when they got together in October 1996. It consists of Slow heavy dub-hop type breaks and patterns, low bass and layered with dark atmospherics and sounds. It is definitely a more groove based sound with the emphasis on the depth and weight of the drums and bass sounds to create a warmer texture as opposed to the erratic nature of Task material. -- Hypermart

Dark grooves, heavy drum & bass, whirring synth, female vocals that entice the listener into an attentive response to listen and dronal ambient backgrounds make up the majority of sounds on "Radius Suck." A collaborative effort quite tastily done, the seven bands on this project put forth strong effort to bring us some of best dark ambient drum & bass there is on the market.
There is a great amount of variety on this release. Surface has two tracks of totally different music, the first one being Fallen (DJ Turn Remix), which is light on the drum and bass, big on the vinyl/platter spin shift and has a rapster beat to it. However the second track is by far more dark ambient in nature with plusing drones and spiraling synth.
Kanals three tracks are excellent as well. The Puppet Masters is a dark slow drum & (big on) bass, with gentle noisy ambient in the background, while Supplicant And The Turnkey (Ocosi mix) is a bit more drum than bass, with minimalist pulse background keeping the beat with the overall tempo. Dead Spider Position is more minimalist experimental work, softly slapping synth fx, bass, fading bleeps, knocks and high pitched noises join with a slow rhythms.
Task has two tracks, Sinsect, a metallic slapping drum & bass composition with a dark pulsing background, and KD7, which is drum & bass yes, but with lots of changes in tempo, noisy drones and rhythm. Su8m3rg3d also brings us two tracks with TO (Blankmove Mix), reminding me the sound of an engine slowly reving up and then quitting, over and over again, layered on drum & bass and chirping birdlike fx/sounds. 040398 (Ocosi Fuk) however is quite a bit more ambient than other tracks on the CD with  drawn out atmospherics and wavey drifts that blends directly into the next track by Ocosi with Devil Doll, a tasty drum & bass with a woman gently talking in the foreground,  snappy yet slow rhythms which you could dance to, and changes with samples inserted of garbled voice and eerie fx.
Moving directly into the next track by Hayleck (unknown) which is definitely experimental noise of pulsing, swirls of wheezing synth and faint dark drone, eventually adding clicks and clacks as if someone was dropping glass beads or some such objects on a tile floor. Sadists Katar (weak pulse) is an experimental, mellow drum & bass with fading effects, a woman speaking yet not easy to understand (a big muffled), growling soft atmospheres, disjointed rhythms and choppy beats.
It doesn't get much better than this folks. Radius Suck is a wonderful release with many talented artists. Highly recommended.
