Reprobus is a solo project
based out of New Jersey. Self-produced and released through The Orchard,
"Sonoluminescence" reflects over a year of work and a lifetime of dedication.
Attracted to synthesized music and the wonderous sounds of a synth since a very early age,
this is the culmination of his years of dedication by Reprobus.
"Sonoluminescence" is in essence a dancy, groove- laden CD.
Breaks and pulsating beats are abound on this release. The danceable, yet smooth beats
dictate the entire feel of this release. Layered atop the foundation of groove is, well,
deep bass. The bass pumps as the trancy leads and pads complete the lush soundscape. The
result is very good for a self-produced CD. The production is crisp and everything is
nicely polished; it all comes together very nicely.
The grooves are really tasty. Nothing's too overbearing or obtrusive.
The dance style is along the lines of LogiQ. Sometimes the riffs get a little
cliche, though - the repetition almost gets predictable. Some of the sounds and methods
have really been overused in other places. However, it is a nice chill-out or groove CD to
listen to. Very electronic in nature - there's no sign of any attempt to sound non-
synthesized. Plus, the gritting humor (read: Irony) of a whole track blatantly made from
presets (gee, no one does that & attempts to hide it) is pretty cool :) Nice
work from Reprobus.
