All
systems check! Signal 12 is ready to go online! A side project of the band Oneroid
Psychosis, Leif and Lars Hansen bring us an in-your-face, no holds-barred, electro album.
Right from the beginning, you are wisked away into this cybernetic landscape. With the
beats blasting and the synthetic noise factor pumping, you get a sense of what you are
going to be up against; a sonic atmosphere of electro-industrial that will get your body
moving onto the dancefloor!
The first song begins with the faint sounds of radio
transmissions introducing us to the chaos ahead. The beats get repetitive at times, but
the music itself is enough to make a raver take notice. It sounds a bit on the borderline
between electronica/industrial because of the use of break beats. Moving over to track
two, it follows a similar formula to track one. Pulse pounding beats that will make your
head bob for a bit. The tracks afterward are more mellow and relaxing. They are not
as heavy as the previous ones. They sound more atmospheric and ambient in which they are
displayed in luscious sounding synth-groove. Track five is almost a return to the
beginning. It is not as hard with beats, yet it still maintains a bit of harsh electro to
it. The next few tracks follow in the same vein with moody electronics layered upon
each other.
While there are no "real" songs on this album, a few
manage to capture the dancefloor feel. With or without lyrics, the songs are enough to
"shake your booty" to the rhythm and grooves found throughout this album.
Different from the Oneroid Psychosis mainstay, Signal 12 keep the atmosphere flowing with
their dark electro presence.
