Jeff
Danos out of Denver, Colorado has delivered a wonderful release with "Bioplaza."
What makes this so wonderful? In terms of electronic [somewhat experimental
industrial yet also ambient] music, it is a smooth and well produced work of art. The drum
programming is tight and worthy of every club dance floor. Male vocals on this release are
treated and diverse, and not in the least bit annoying or overused. There are quite a few
samples, a good deal of tweeks and blurps (strange sounds created with machines), and a
good dose of eerie electro undertones in quite a few tracks.
The synth work on this release gives credibility to Jeff's wizardry
with his machines. All tracks can attest to this, however a few stand out to me as being
top-notch like: "Dance Of Limbs", "Bioplaza" and
"Contrast", to name a few. Synth textures and melodically structured
undertones blended with intensely rich drum programming and sampling abound on this
release. It sells for 7$ us funds, a superb deal for all the work that went into this
disk. If you like bands like Noise Unit, Beefcake, (a hint of Delerium-type ambiance) and
early FLA all mixed up in tasty dish of twisted electronic ear-food, don't wait to order
this CD. And don't underestimate "Testube" as another cheesy electro-industrial
band. Jeff has the skills and knowledge as witnessed on "Bioplaza" to give
evidence in support that the scene is still alive and well. Hail Jeff! Keep up the
excellent work... Thanks for creating it.
Hi to DJ Twitch and friends in Denver!
Jeff is probably best known for his label UEF (United Endangered
Front), which is now resting in peace. Releases from UEF can still be obtained by visiting
the official Testube web site. There are some very good tunes to be had there at
reasonable prices. "Circuit Noir 1 and 2" compilations, "Persistence
of Division" (a film soundtrack) and other UEF releases await there for your
listening pleasure.
